Electric & Acoustic Bass

Eclectic bassist Zac Matthews has played heaps of rock, jazz, classical, musical theatre and everything in-between. He has performed and recorded with such jazz greats as Don Menza, Pete Christlieb, Bill Watrous, Henry Mancini, Bobby Shew, Gary Foster, Marvin Stamm, Bud Shank, Brent Jensen, Rob McConnell, Marcus Printup, Nancy King and Jack Sheldon among many others.
Zac is frequently in the Los Angeles recording studios, leading to recordings for film, TV and record studios such as Motown, Capital, Columbia, Sony, Naxos and Origin Arts.

Zac co-leads the Acoustic Jazz Quartet (www.acousticjazzquartet.com) which has CDs available worldwide on Naxos Jazz Records and Origin Arts records. The AJQ and Zac's compositions were featured prominently on the feature film WITHOUT A MAP.

Zac studied with John Clayton, Ray Brown and François Rabbath and has Degrees in Classical Bass Performance and Music Theory/History from Washington State University and a Masters degree in Jazz Studies from the University of Southern California.
