Vox Lumiere’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame

The Los Angeles-based Vox Lumiere’s modern take on Victor Hugo’s sprawling 1831 masterpiece, The Hunchback of Notre Dame fuses rock opera with the 1923 silent film.

Vox Lumiere, is truly a unique entertainment multi-media experience combining classic silent film with live music, theatre, and dance.

“Vox Lumiere’s creator Kevin Saunders Hayes has written an energetic score and hired a competent cast of actors, singers, musicians and stage technicians to transform the 1923 film experience into a 21st century spectacle,” said Alberta Bair Theater Marketing Director Corby Skinner.

“No pregnant pauses here, the show filled the auditorium from opening song to the final curtain. Interestingly, despite all the state-of-the-art theatrics, Hayes allows the power of the film to shine through. Lon Chaney’s portrayal of Quasimodo is electrifying. In a world of computer-generated, big budget movies, it’s refreshing to see a 1923 black and white silent film transfix a audience with the sheer power of story,” commented Skinner
