Vox Lumiere AUDITIONS
THANK YOU
Thanks for your interest in auditioning for Vox Lumiere. Below please find all the information and materials needed for a successful audition. We’ve tried to anticipate most queries, but… if you have any questions please give us a shout at: hello (at) voxlumiere.com.

ABOUT VOX LUMIERE
Vox Lumiere transforms iconic silent films into explosive live experiences with original music and powerhouse vocals. It’s a rock concert, theatrical event, and cinematic journey rolled into one. The sound is an eclectic mix of original rock, pop and classic Hollywood film scoring for music geeks, film lovers, comic book and fantasy fans and… anyone who likes a little heavy metal served up with their classical music.

Vox Lumiere has eight productions, and for more than 20 years has toured internationally, been featured on Celebrity Cruise Lines, been seen on a Nationally Televised PBS Special in the US, won 14 awards, and received excellent critical and audience reviews.

ABOUT THE MUSIC
The ensemble consists of 8 performers – drums, bass, guitar, violin, two male and two female singers. The music is synced perfectly to each film, and each show is like performing a live film scoring session. The scores are tricky, and include multiple key changes, time signatures and tempo changes, sometimes happening all at once (!). It’s fun, challenging and requires a high level of musicianship.

Musicians and vocalists perform to a pre-recorded orchestral and choral backing track using a click track and in-ear monitors. Reading musical notation, while not a requirement, is certainly a plus. Vocalists must also be able to take their cues from the music (at times with a little help from the drummer), and in addition to pop, rock and legit classical solo passages, vocalists are required to enhance pre-recorded choral parts in a number of languages including English, French, German, Italian and (our personal favorite) Latin.

Audition Materials

DRUMS
We are looking for male or female drummers who can lay down a solid foundation and “groove” in a variety of shifting meters and time signatures, while sticking firmly to the click track. This gig is on electronic drums. Owning your own set of electric drums is a plus, but not a deal breaker. We can arrange to provide a set if needed. The part covers just about every style imaginable – rock, pop, metal, dance, electronic, orchestral and more. And again, to be clear, this gig requires performing on an electric drum kit.

GUITAR
If you’re a male or female rockstar that can play just about every guitar style imaginable, then we have got an amazing gig for you. Vox Lumiere guitar parts are fun, challenging and include crushing metal riffs, delicious lead lines, elegant orchestral accompaniment, pop song accompaniment and eccentric atonal craziness. Ability to improvise and shred pop/rock solos is a plus, but not required.

Seeking a male or female violinist with a beautiful tone, classical chops and rock/pop sensibilities. CLASSICAL SOPRANO – RANGE: G3 – D6
If you are a classical diva who always wanted to sing with crushing metal guitars, this is the gig for you. We are looking for a legit classical soprano. Not Nancy Wilson or Amy Lee. This is important, we are looking for a Cecilia Bartoli or Renee Fleming who wants to be in a rock band.
