Beatles People, Metropolis People

Victoria and I went to see Paul McCartney's photography exhibit in Brooklyn.

Oddly enough, I spent almost as much time listening to the people as I did looking at the photographs.

Every group had their own Beatles.

THEIR Beatles.

They knew every story.

Every recording session.

Every haircut.

Every disagreement.

Heaven help you if two groups overheard each other.

It reminded me of something.

Metropolis fans are exactly the same.

Like the wonderful woman that came to see us in LA. She has a magnificent tattoo of the robot on her arm in the style of an Indian goddess. Beautiful.

People don't just like Metropolis.

They have a relationship with it.

I honestly think I should be in the Guinness Book of World Records for "Most Times Watching Metropolis."

I didn't spend years writing an entirely new score because I thought the film needed fixing.

I did it because I loved it enough to start a conversation with it.

One artist. Speaking across a century.

Hoping today's audiences hear what the film has been trying to say all along.

There's nothing quite like being in the room where it happens.
